“Healing Destination” (Poem) Thursday: Write Photo Prompt: Destination – Word of The Day Challenge: Broken – FOWC: Previous

For visually challenged writers, the image shows a path between an avenue of trees. Shadows from hidden sunlight fall across the path, but mist obscures the way forward…

“Healing Destination”

(Poem)

A dense misty veil looms heavily,

allowing slight glimpses of the

sunlight to penetrate through

the canopy of intertwining branches above.

The previous day was glorious, not a cloud to be seen,

I chose this destination for a stroll,

for its serenity and myriads of green.

I needed privacy to reflect and mend

the broken pieces of my life,

a quietness on this path, a place I could repent.

Yet, the fog intensified, sunlight faded,

and a brisk cold sensation was felt,

this perfect destination I chose, now made me feel quite jaded.

My broken pieces and I plan on returning another day,

maybe, when it’s not so gloomy…

Until that time arrives,

I pray to keep the intrusive thoughts at bay.
