It’s week 7 of Beckie’s Working On Us Writing Prompt! It’s another week to help break the stigma on those with any mental illness or disorder. This week’s topic is suicide.

Prompt #1

Have you ever experienced suicidal thoughts?

I’ve had suicidal thoughts since the age of 11. Your brain tells you that you’re worthless, that nobody loves you, and that nobody would miss you. Even if outside circumstances tell you different, your brain lies to you. My brain has always had a way of doing just that.

Have you ever attempted suicide?

Once, when I was 21. I was self-harming and I decided to do the deed. My PTSD was in full swing and my ex was telling me how awful he thought I was. I couldn’t take it anymore.

  1. I love how honest and giving everyone has been with this prompt especially. It’s a touchy subject but the taboo needs to be smashed. If it’s not talked about, how will people ever get comfortable seeking help when they need it? I don’t know one person who hasn’t had suicidal thoughts at some point in their lives.

    1. I am so appreciative towards everyone that has participated in this subject matter, especially. As you said… This is an extremely hard topic, but it must be smashed.
      I can’t see people suffer alone and by bringing more attention to this, I hope all of sharing shed light and hope to individuals that are thinking about suicide. Again, there is hope and there are a lot of people to help them get through it. 💚
