Hello, All!  Happy Saturday to You!

Before I begin writing about the events of this past week, I’d sincerely want to send out my prayers and thoughts out to  Calin of “Cyranny’s Cove”.  Her father recently suffered a massive stroke the day before yesterday, and my heart goes out to her and her family.  May God watch over all of you during this difficult time. 🙏

I also want to take a moment to send prayers to the victims and their families alike for the violence that has taken place in New Zealand in a mosque, during prayer.  I refuse to even mention the name of the perpetrator that caused such heartbreak because he doesn’t deserve to have his name glorified.  The victims and their families and friends affected by this horrid act need to know the world is praying for them. 🙏

So, the events of this week…

To be honest, not a whole heck of a lot took place in my life this past week.  Yes, I live a fairly boring life.  No complaints about that though.  I enjoy when things are calm in my world.

I’d like to extend my “Thanks” to those of you who just started following my blog, and for myself in following new sites.  It has been fun getting to know new people along the way from all over the world.

“Does anyone of you ever remember Pen-Pals?  Did you ever have one?”

When I was in the fourth grade, my teacher, Miss Musto introduced the class to “Pen-Pals” – We sought out a name and address of another child across the US of A, and began writing back and forth.  I had befriended a girl named Wanda from Wisconsin.   (And, no… I’m not making the name or the state up if you were wondering.)

Some of my fellow classmates kept writing throughout the remainder of the class year, and Wanda and I wrote for nearly three years after.  Not only was it fun to learn about another girl my age living clear across the country, but it was also fun to just be ourselves and chat about everything from soup to nuts.

One day, my mother suggested we take a picture of ourselves and send them to one another.  I remember being so excited the day the envelope arrived, and I could finally put a face to this girl I had been writing to.  She was this adorable redheaded, pudgy little thing with this big bright smile.  The back round was that of a large field and fencing and a pony behind her.

It’s sort of funny that I do remember all of this, but can’t for the life of me remember the picture I sent of myself.  I know it was a Polaroid shot because that was one of my Christmas gifts that year.

Anyway… It was shortly after the exchanging of pictures, we both sort of went on our merry little ways and discontinued writing to one another.  Every so often, I think back to when we were pen-pals.  Just two goofy kids being goofy is the best way to describe it.  It was fun because I never felt awkward, nor felt any judgment was made towards me.  I was just being myself, and as far as I could tell, Wanda was just being herself.

Being yourself quotes #yourself #quotes #text #self

I’m actually working on a point here…

As I’ve been receiving new bloggers and some of which have been pretty fun to banter with.  (Innocent fun)… seems to have landed me under a judgemental microscope in recent days.  I could be wrong about this assumption, but I feel that weird feeling of judgment being placed on me because of the innocent banter that has been just that.

Maybe, it’s just me, but… I have felt overly anxious for the last few days and I am not liking it at all.

In recent days, I have also been joining in more challenges that other bloggers have posted.  I’ll admit, some of my answers may have been considered a bit racy, maybe even risky… but, again… It was all about having fun with it.

Some of you might have been shocked, others may have been thinking… ‘Where the hell did she come up with that?’ – I apologize if, in any way, I offended any of you.

However, I’m not going to apologize for me just being me on my own blog.  My attitude is this and has been this since I was a kid.  “If you like me, great!  If you don’t, alright.”  I have to like me first and foremost.  I have been working on me for quite a few years now, and I am appreciating myself more and more every day.  I will not allow another’s opinion or judgment bring me down to my knees and create an anxiety attack over something as simple as innocent banter.

Okay… I have probably caught some of my readers off guard.  I am truly sorry for this rant I just went off on.

I am going to close this entry for today by saying one more thing.  I sincerely enjoy meeting new people, I sincerely adore the bloggers I’ve been following for quite a long while.  I respect and admire everything that everyone brings to WordPress.  I consider a large number of you to be my friends.  ‘Pen-Paling Buddies’ if you will, only we use the internet now.  LOL!

Now that I have gotten that off my chest… Moving forward!

I hope all of you had an enjoyable week, and hope that all of you have a wonderful weekend!!!

Take Care & God Bless,

Beckie 💗

  1. Such a tragedy in New Zealand and sending warm thoughts to your friend’s family. Anxiety is not pleasant and I hope it passes. Enjoy the rest of your weekend Beckie.

      1. You’re welcome, Ms. Neckie and thank you.

Oh, it’s not just a song, my friend, it’s an entire album. I fly to Toronto on Wednesday and will spend ten days there. During that time I will work on the album with a friend and some other musicians. I am ready to start!

  2. It’s nice meeting you via our blogs and chatting on both our blogs.
Yes, I used to have a pen pal when I was 8 or 9 and I remember enjoying it. But I can’t remember anything else, like the person’s name and where she lived. Or how long it lasted. I just remember the enjoyment.

    1. It’s funny too, I remember that when I had my pen-pal, stamps only cost .29 cents. Boy oh boy, have times changed!
I’m so happy you found enjoyment in pen-paling as much as I did. I am even more happier now, because I have great people such as yourself to write back and forth between our sites. A true gift!! 💗

      1. I thinking finding people here as we have, is a lovely gift. I still enjoy it now as I did when I first communicated via blogs.
I wouldn’t have a clue what the stamp would have cost my parents, but certainly much cheaper than it is now. 🙂

        1. My mom and I were talking the other night, and she was reading aloud old letters from the 70’s from my grandmother. She was the one that brought up the cost of the stamps. I sure as heck didn’t remember the cost of them. I wrote to my pen-pal and grandmother all the time, my mother was the stamp person. LOL! 🤣

  3. Through Pen Pals – one of my close friend from India is married to Men from Switzerland. They are married for 20 plus year and have for two handsome sons and all live in Switzerland. Good old days of communications. See if you can find your friends of 3rd grade by Google
