Happy Friday Eve to you ALL!
I first wanted to thank all the bloggers that commented on yesterday’s post of “Working on Me” – Self-Help. Topic: Insomnia. Your ideas and suggestions were really wonderful and informative and I will feature them in a future post.
Secondly, I want to announce. Mr. Sandman finally visited me last night. I can’t even begin to tell you how great it felt to have more than 2-3 hours of solid sleep. I had awakened to the winds roaring and rain coming down by the bucket loads. In most cases, I would sleep right through it, but it was perfect timing. I had to get up early anyway.
I had my appointment with the back specialist today. I thought for the last 3&1/2 weeks I was going for an MRI, which I was a little anxious about but all they did today was take an X-ray. The doctor was very nice and explained that my L4 & L5 disc was bulging and causing liquid pockets which were causing most of the pain I have been under.
We discussed what to do next. However, I had to bring his attention to the fact that I also require double knee replacement at some given point down the road. He wants me to go 3 times a week for 4-6 weeks to physical therapy. (This is impossible for me to pull off). I don’t have a car. That being said, I plan to at least go to the physical therapist at least one time and take the sheet of exercises that I need to do at home, as well as take Nabumetone. (An anti-inflammatory).
At the end of February, he then wants me to see his associate in order to inject what I’m guessing is the same kind of gel into my back that is also used on my knees. (Not really to sure of that). I plan on speaking to the doctor again tomorrow to discuss this with him further.
I left there today feeling okay about the visit, but still a bit confused about the shots. I don’t know why I didn’t think of it before when I was speaking to him, but what about the fluid between the L4 & L5? I want to know if I have to go through a spinal tap for that? Again, I will contact him tomorrow. I have already started a small list of questions.
Other than that, it was an okay day. I at least got sleep. I’m hoping that I can pull it off again tonight. Tomorrow, I have a long list of things to get done but plan on catching up on reading some posts that I haven’t caught over the week. It’s that part of the day that I enjoy the most!
In closing, I hope all of you had a pleasant day.
Take Care & God Bless,
