~*~ Open Wounds ~*~ ( Haiku Extended)

When you injure your body physically, it cries out in pain. You know you must treat your wound. An emotional injury is not dissimilar to a physical injury. Emotional pain is a symptom of an injury to your being. Do not confuse distractions with treatment. Distractions of any form (drugs, sex, compulsive behaviors, etc...) will not end your pain, they will not treat your wound.

The picking of scabs

burning bridges cut off pain

time heals open wounds.

Memories remain

recurrent thoughts;  Yesterday

tears shed down your face.

Must plunge forward on,

keeping emotions at bay.

Create new bridges.

Carefully remove

bandages,  begin anew

mindful of lessons.
