First, sorry I didn’t post a “Quote of The Day.” for today, but by the time I got home last night from the Labor Day BBQ, I was so exhausted. The only thought on my mind was to cover “Peanut” my parrot, change out of my sweaty clothes, jump into bed, and watch Netflix. I have absolutely no recollection of what I even watched on Netflix, that is how tired I was.
It was so unbearably hot and humid outside that we moved the eating festivities indoors after the burgers and dogs were cooked. “Thank God!” – Because when we were heading over to my roommates, sister house for the BBQ, I was developing a migraine. Heck, I drank so much water, took Ibuprofen, and had a banana before we even left the house with hopes that it would go away before we arrived. Thank goodness, it didn’t develop into a full-blown migraine, but I still felt a bit fuzzy all day. 😧
Although we spent most of the day indoors to avoid melting into a puddle on the deck, we ended up having a great time. After shoveling food down our throats like it was the first time we set eyes on it.🌭 🍔 We then started playing games. Two games I had never played before.
The first one was called “Left. Center. Right.” Three dice each with an “R” – “C” – “L” plus little singular dots on either side. We all started with chips, and when you rolled the dice and it came up “R” dot “C”, one chip went to the player on the Right, and one went to the center of the table. This was such a fast-paced game, I loved it!
It was soon after we played that one, I was introduced (In fact, most of us were introduced to playing “Canasta”)
Now, I love playing card games, but this one was like teaching a bunch of old dogs new tricks. Because we were just learning how to play the game, we did not break down into teams… not to mention there were five of us, so a team was never going to take place anyway. I won’t even bother trying o go over the rules of the game, because it created a dense fog inside my head right from the get-go. 🤯
Let me tell you… Being that I was trying all day to keep my migraine at bay, this brought it to a whole new level. I honestly felt like the village idiot playing a new card game but felt so much better when most of us really had no idea what the hell was going on in the first place.
I will say this though, there was plenty of laughter and confusion but we all had a great time. I actually look forward to attempting to play Canasta again. (Minus a migraine). LOL! 🃏
So, do you have a favorite game you like to play, if so what is it?
Well, that was my Labor Day in a nutshell. How was yours?
Have a great week ahead folks!
Take Care & God Bless,
