~*~ Suicide Survivor ~*~ (Poetry)

Head held low

reminiscing of times

not so long ago.

When, what, where did time

change its course?

I could play the

blame game,

but that wasn’t the source.

Life choices and

mental stability

played their fair share

of breaking me down,

drinking my life away

and the wanting to drown.

Those days have passed…

and I am so blessed,

time to pick up the

broken fragments

and begin to live

life once again.

It’s a slow process

to start from scratch,

life doesn’t reboot

by the flick of a match.

I thank God, my mom,

and my friends for

their strong support,

for it was they who kept

me from cutting my life short.

I can now hold my head up high,

the drink didn’t win;

I’m a suicide survivor…

A chance to live my life again.
