December 26, 2017 – The Day After –

Twas the day after Christmas, and all through the house…  That mouse?  He was looking for leftovers.  LOL!  🙂

So, Did we all survive the Christmas holiday?  Have you had your fill of family gatherings?  Was your holiday quiet?  Or, was is an all-around riot?

Honestly, I’m not trying to rhyme, but it’s happening most of the damn time.  🙂
Seriously, how was your holiday?  Are you happy the hoopla is over with?  Are you happy the planning, running around, pulling your hair out, developing a migraine, popping Tylenol like chicklets, cooking, breaking up family arguments, picking up all the Christmas wrap, garbage, the cats taking down every ornament off the tree, sitting in traffic, festivities over with?

~ OR ~

Was is a traditional Norman Rockwell Christmas, perfectly designed in all its glory?  Snow falling, horse-drawn carriages, carolers, the perfect dinner setting with all the trimmings and candlelight aglow, kissing under the mistletoe, stockings hung by the mantle, candy canes in hot chocolate, family lovingly hugging one another?

Well, which one did you have?

I can honestly admit, I wasn’t looking forward to Christmas at all… I know, I know, bah humbug, right?  No, it was because I miss my Mom so much, and Christmas hasn’t exactly been my cup of tea for the last 3-5years, for reasons most of my followers know.  But, this Christmas brought me so much undeniable joy and warmth, that I didn’t know I could experience ever again.

As you can see, my roommate and I like to dress up her dog “Pinky” in festive holiday get-ups.

“Pinky” got my bird “Peanut” a new toy for his cage.  Naturally…  Peanut needs to adjust still to his new kong ball, but give it a day or two, and he will be beating the crap out of it.

And, “Kadi”, my roommate’s cat gave me a new baby penguin to add to the family.

We then exchanged our own gift of candy and a robe for her, PJ’s for me, ” A Christmas Story”  750 piece puzzle of the leg lamp.

Because it’s my favorite Christmas movie.
Then, we got ourselves ready to go over to her sister’s house to indulge in a breakfast feast!

We all gathered around the table in our favorite Winter Jammies.  It was a pure delight!
After the breakfast was done, and the cleaning was complete… I could have used a nap.  I haven’t had this much fun in years at Christmas time.
However, no rest for the weary, we played with puzzles and video games for the afternoon.
Although I couldn’t be with my Mother this Christmas season like I had wanted to, my roommate’s sister and her family treated me as if I was a part of theirs.  For this, I am truly thankful and blessed.
Later, after we arrived back at home, I changed into my new PJ’s, kicked back in bed and passed right on out.

Thank you, “JK” and The Santiago Family for making Christmas special to me again.  Love you Guys!

  1. I am heartened to hear that your holiday had joy once again. I am so thrilled that Christmas is over, as it was draining and full of family drama. My first year of going no contact with my sister had a bit to do with it, of this I am sure, I find the stress unbearable, but usually find joy in the midst of the craziness. The holidays can be awful for those of us who suffer from depression, grief or anxiety (any illness, really) but I remain blessed with a roof over my head and food in the frig, the animals fed and the wrapping paper in the recycle bin….til next year, love.

  2. I’m so happy that you enjoyed Christmas this year! It sounds absolutely wonderful!

We had a quiet one with just the dog and cats, and went out to a fun dinner last night with my sister and brother-in-law. The hoopla begins this weekend with my husband’s parents. I’m hoping there’s no drama. 😞
